PROVERBS
Warning against rejecting wisdom (1:20-33).
20) Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares;
21) At the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:
22) How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? how long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?
23) If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.
24) But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,
25) Since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke,
26) I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you-
27) When calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
28) Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me.
29) Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord,
30) Since they would not accept my advice ans spurned my rebuke,
31) They will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.
32) For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33) But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.
PROVERBS
Warning against enticement of sinners (1:8-19).
Listen my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
9) They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
10) My son, if sinners entice you, do not give into them.
11) If they say, come along with us; let’s lie in wait for someone’s blood, let’s waylay some harmless soul;
12) Let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit;
13) We will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our house with plunder;
14) Throw in your lot with us, and we will share a common purse”-
15) My son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;
16) For their feet rush into sin, they are swift to shed blood.
17) How useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds!
18) These men lie in wait for their own blood; they waylay only themselves!
19) Such is the end of all who go after ill-gotton gain; it takes away the lives of those who get it.
As Christians we need to take the Living Word of God and put it into action in our daily lives!
Be Blessed in Jesus name.

Moses said to the children of Israel, “Why are you disobeying the Lord’s command? This will not succeed!”(Numbers 14:41-43).
Israel was defeated because they rejected the voice of God and followed their own self-will. Instead of going forward to take possession of the land as God commanded them, they rebelled. They refused to listen. They refused to follow God into the Promised Land, but chose instead to follow their own will and go back to Egypt. This was the height of their rebellion against God. They chose their will above God’s will. They rejecred Him as the supreme authority of their lives.
If you are disobeying God’s command, you will not succeed. You will fail…..guaranteed.
Make this declaration: “God has planned no failures for me. I will obey His commands and succeed in all I do.”

A temple not made with hands
Lord Jesus, You are above us – reigning. We believe it. That is what gives us serenity to achieve……..
Lord Jesus, You are before us – directing. We believe it. That is what gives us courage to go on………..
So we dedicate ourselves. And we bless you.
Lord Jesus, You are beneath us. We believe it. When we slip, You catch us.
When we kick you in the face, You just serve us.
And when we pack in and fall right down,
You come further down just to be beside us.
In awe we thank thee.
Lord Jesus, You are within each of us,Our hope of Glory,
Of being complete, We believe it…..
We are your temple not made with hands, We are your body.
If every wall should crumble, and every church decay, We are your habitation.
Nearer are you than breathing, closer than hands and feet.
Ours are the eyes with which you, in the mystery, look out in compassion on the world……
Take us ‘outside the camp’, Lord. Outside holiness.
Out to where soldiers gamble, and thieves curse,
and nations clash at the cross-roads of the world……
George F MacLeod (1895 – 1991)
Dear Lord you have set before us a great hope that your kingdom will come on earth, and have taught us to pray for its coming: make us ever ready to thank you for the signs of its dawning, and to pray and work for the perfect day when your will shall be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

The Prayer of Jabez
“Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory,
that your hand would be with with me, and that you would keep me from evil,
that I may not cause pain!”
And God granted him that which he requested.
1 Chronicles 4:10
If God granted Jabez what he requested, He can do the same for you because God never changes, He is the same today and forever.
So why not pray this prayer from your heart, in Jesus name, and believe that God will grant your request.

The Season of Advent Anticipation and Hope
Advent is the beginning of the Church Year for most churches in the Western tradition. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, which is the Sunday nearest November 30, this year (2011) Advent Sunday shall begin on Sunday 27 November, and end on Christmas Eve (Dec 24). If Christmas Eve is a Sunday, it is counted as the fourth Sunday of Advent, with Christmas Eve beginning at sundown.
What is Advent?
The definition of Advent is: The beginning of the Liturgical Year and the four Sundays before Christmas.
A time of preparing and waiting for the Adventus Domini – Coming of the Lord.
The Word Advent means “Coming or Arrival”.
We include the children at this time by taking part in the services, opening the doors of their Advent Calendars to relate the Christmas story.
The focus of the entire season is the:
1. Celebration of the Birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ in the First Advent.
2. And the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in the Second Advent.
John 1: 1- 14 is a beautiful illustration of ”The Word (Jesus) became flesh and dwelt among us”
John 1:1-14 (NLT)
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him. The Word gave life to everything that was created,* and his life brought life to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.*
God sent a man, John the Baptist,* to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.
He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. But to all who believed and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn – not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
So the Word became human* and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.* And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only son.
Summary
Verse 13 is marked by a Spirit of expectation, of anticipation, of preparation, of longing.There is a yearning for deliverance from the evils of this world first expressed by the Israelite slaves in Egypt as they cried out from their bitter expression. It is the cry of those who have experienced bitter pains of injustice in a world under the curse of sin, and yet who have the wonderful Hope of deliverance by a God who has heard the cries of the oppressed slaves and brought deliverance. (Jesus is our Light and Hope).
Until Jesus returns at His second coming, only then shall we be free from the curse of sin in the world, when the King of Kings will rule with peace, justice and righteousness. We must hold onto that truth no matter what we are going through.
Verse 14 tells us “The Word became flesh and lived among us”. We have seen His Glory, the Glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of Grace and truth.
We have much to celebrate as we await the birth of the WORD BECOME FLESH THIS CHRISTMAS.
Jesus is our hope, our peace, our love, our light, our deliverer, our saviour, our redeemer who loves us with an everlasting love, who died that we may be FREE from the bondages of sin and suffering.
The Spirit of Advent is also expressed in the parable of the bridesmaids who are anxiously awaiting the coming of the bridegroom. Read Mathew 25: 1-13.
Summary
In this parable there is a profound joy at the bridegroom’s expected coming. and yet a warning of the need for preparation echo’s through the parable.
We must do our bit, to prepare and be ready for the coming of our Lord. We can to easily get caught up in the things of the world and Jesus may be given a thought oe indeed no thought at all.
Only through Jesus can we be renewed, restored, revived and redeemed.
Advent Reflection
In our lives today Jesus is our only Hope. I believe that those who have suffered and still Hope, understand far more about God and about life than those who have not.
Maybe that is what Hope is about? A way to live, not just to survive, a way to live authentically amidst all the problems of life with a faith that continues to see possibility when there is no present evidence of it, just because God is God.
That is the wonder of Advent.
Advent is a season of Hope. Hope in the Light of the World – Jesus (John 1: 1-5).
Let us Pray
Thank you Lord for the Hope we know we have in you. You are the Light of the World. The one who has come and will come again.
Let us always keep your Light in our hearts until the “Day of the Lord” comes. I ask that your presence goes with each one of us each day. May we know the sweet fragrance of your love in our daily lives. In Jesus name. Amen.
When you feel as if God has left you, read God’s promise to you in…………….
Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sh
Recalling God’s Provision
Scripture reading: Psalm 42:1-11
Take time today to look at your life and recall the mighty provision of God in spiritual and physical deliverance in your own life. Begin with your salvation. Stop for a moment and think what God has saved you from and the transformation that has come into your life since you have known Jesus as your personal savior.
Make this declaration: “My faith stands in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. He knows my future. He holds my today and tomorrow in His hands”.
Share the Love of Jesus today.
