The World Day of Prayer is a global, ecumenical movement of informed prayer and prayerful action. Every year Christians of many traditions and all ages, celebrate a common day of prayer in more than 180 countries in over 1,000 languages.
This year the World Day of Prayer is on Friday 2nd March and will focus on women in Malaysia. Women account for nearly half of Malaysia’s population of 28.7 million. There are around 6.8 million non-Muslim women. More and more women are working full time. Many of them have children and find it hard to balance the demands of their domestic and professional lives. And women who are full-time mothers can sometimes question their vocation. Whatever their circumstances, many face emotional pressure and need spiritual guidance.
Bible Societies like us are supporting a multi-year Bible engagement and literacy project to help women to develop strong spiritual foundations and healthy families based on the teachings of God’s Word. Find out more at www.wdpscotland.org.uk
Closer to home, Women Walking with God is a charitable trust in Scotland that has been set up by a group of women who are passionate about God and have a vision for seeing women in Scotland fulfil their God-given potential. To help realise that vision, an annual conference is held to support, encourage and equip women in their Christian faith.
The 2012 conference takes place from 2nd to 3rd March at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre with the theme, “Known… their names were never recorded, but Jesus knew them.” Speakers including Elaine Storkey, Kay Cathcart and Tania Bright-Cook will focus on three women in the Gospels whom Jesus knew intimately but whose names were never recorded.
Join us in prayer for these events and support women both here in Scotland and across the world.
